Raccoons are the biggest pain in the backyard!
Have you found your bird feeder on the ground? Has your bird feeder disappeared? Are your bird feeders empty of seed in the morning? If you've answered yes to any of these questions then you have a Raccoon. Of course you'll say "Well I've never seen one in my yard." Raccoons are primarily nocturnal. So unless your awake at some early hour you may never see one but they're there.
Raccoons don't fully hibernate for the winter but they may take long slumbers during the worse parts of the season. I can have bird feeders and suet cages hanging in a tree and I know the morning I find them on the ground the raccoon has awoken.
A raccoon can weigh upwards of 25 pounds. They have incredible strength and dexterity in their five fingered hands. There is no bird feeder that we are aware of the can withstand an all night round with a coon. The raccoon baffle is the only solution to prevent them from destroying your feeders or raiding your Bluebird houses.
