Winter is for the birds

Cold temperatures, snow cover, long nights and a dwindling supply of natural foods will drive more birds to your feeders. Your feeding station is a reliable food source when times are difficult. By providing foods that are high in fat and protein you can help your birds survive each day and night. Seeds like Black Oil Sunflower, Safflower, Sunflower Chips and peanuts will attract a variety of birds. During the winter adding a bit of millet and cracked corn can benefit ground feeding birds such as Juncos, White-throat Sparrows and Mourning Doves. Suet is a great attractant for Woodpeckers, Wrens and Nuthatches. If you have soft spot for the critters you can put out whole corn or corn on the cob.

Keep your feeders full and your birds will thank you.
